We are continuing our series of messages through the book of Hebrews. The series began in week 1 as we looked at at chapters 1-2 and discovered that “Jesus Is Better.” In week 2, we looked at Hebrews 2-3 and saw that Jesus is the “Captain of Our Salvation. In week 3, we looked at Hebrews 4 where we see the Final Word and the Final Priest. In week 4, we contemplated what it means to be “All Grown Up” in the faith from Hebrews 5:11 – 6:2. In week 5, we had a “One Point Sermon” about what it means to be mature in Christ from Hebrews 6.
In week 6, we saw “The Greater Promise” from Hebrews 8 in which we saw an inner covenant (Hebrews 8:10), a relational covenant (Hebrews 8:10 & 1 John 3:1), an inclusive covenant (Hebrews 8:11 & I Peter 2:9), and an eternal covenant (Hebrews 8:12).
In week 7, we see “The Better Sacrifice” from Hebrews 9-10:18. We saw that there is a remedy which affects the conscience (v. 11-14), there is a remedy which offers forgiveness (v. 15-22), and there is a remedy not needing repetition. (v. 23-28)
In week 8, we saw “The Faithful Response” from Hebrews 10:1 – 12:3. What should our response be to all the “better” things that we have learned about in Hebrews? We can answer that by answering these questions:
• Have you been cleansed? – Hebrews 10:22
• Are you committed? – Hebrews 10:23
• Have you experienced the fellowship of the saints? - Hebrews 10:24-25
• Has there been a redirection of your will? – Hebrews 10:26
Praise God for His better plan!
